Land Rover Series Forum steering lock assy. Help please is this what i need to replace a petrol series 3 ignition steering lock and barrel?

At the risk of enraging the purists out there, I would like input on what running chassis I might rebody with my Series IIa sheet metal. I have a Series IIa with a rotted chassis and worn out motor. I got it for nothing and it has never run -I suspect it is well worn as various parts of the running gear show lots of wear. Anyway, the body is good and I like the LR Series look so I'm thinking of putting the body on a (much) later rolling chassis. Any ideas what would make a good donor? I'd like to retain the look so that means straight axles, at least. Any particular jeeps that would make good donors? What about some Toyota? Others?
BFR Been looking at the two wiring diagrams I have got and neither have any wiring in place for the heater blower !
So ,has anyone got a picture of the wiring from the fusebox to through the switch to the blower please? Stupid question but would it be possible to change the front oil seal on a petrol series 3 lump without splitting the engine?
I need some help identifying the V8 in my ltwt. I've got the engine number (but not to hand) showing it's a D suffix & according to Rimmers it's a 1972-85 carbed Range Rover V8 8.25:1 CR.
Now my problem is I'd have thought that meant the water pump (which is leaking like a sieve) would be a STC1611 as it's a non viscious fan mount. However it's not as there is a an extra small water pipe entering from the top that is currently plumbed as the return from the heater. I've got a couple of poor pics of the pump in situ, if anyone can identify it so I can order a replacement I'd be really greatful.   I've just remembered that cast into the pump is the code P8374 if that means anything? If your looking to sell your old Series 2/2a & 3 for spares please let us know

Instead of your standard axle breathers fitted to your 4x4 land rover you can now replace them with these great little axle breather kits! Your kit is as shown on the image above you are also supplied with a fixing kit to attach it securely inside your engine bay and 20 cable ties to secure the pipe. The hard wearing and much more attractive brass manifold can be mounted high in the engine bay allowing the vehicle to drive through deep water whilst allowing your axles to breath, also fitted with a small vent to prevent any blockages that could prevent air flow.
